'Axl,' A Rottweiler, Drives Excitement At Greater Miami Dog Club Shows

Rottweiler

Regal and captivating, a 2 ½-year-old male Rottweiler named “Axl” spun big wins at the Greater Miami Dog Club shows in Ocala, Florida, taking Best in Show March 7 after winning Reserve Best in Show March 6. The No. 1 Rottie in all-breed competition, BIS GCHB Ivoss Absalom has quickly scaled the rankings since beginning his Specials campaign in November 2020 with pro handler Giuseppe “Pino” Renzulli of Miami.

Bred by owner Diane E. Voss, DVM, of High Springs, Florida, Axl represents the fifth generation of Ivoss Rottweilers produced over 20 years. He is co-owned by William Patty of Brooksville, Florida. “Axl is a balanced, moderate dog from front to rear,” Dr. Voss says. “His structure is correct, as is his breed type. He moves with excellent cadence and has powerful reach and drive.”

The handsome male finished his show championship quickly after taking Winners Dog and earning a 5-point Major in September 2020 at the Colonial Rottweiler Club Specialty Show. Since then, Axl had consistently wowed to win multiple Bests of Breed and Working Group Firsts.

An all-breed handler who specializes in Working breeds, Renzulli says, “Axi is a perfect representative of the breed. He is a dog every handler would like to show, and also a dog everyone would like to live with.” Among Axl’s relatives whom Renzulli handled previously are his sire, BISS GCH Ivoss Flash Gordon, and great-grandsire, VP1 Multi-BISS GCHS Ivoss Super Flash. Behind all three males is CH Ivoss Ducks for Diddle, Axl’s great-granddam who produced 10 champions in two litters and was the Top Rottweiler and No. 1 Working Group producer in 2009.

Co-owner Patty, a veteran, worked with a trainer to certify Axl as a service dog through K9 Partners for Patriots. The gentle-natured, friendly male draws a crowd everywhere he goes. Axl is fed Purina Pro Plan SPORT Performance 30/20 Chicken & Rice Formula dog food.
