Purina, Ducks Unlimited Partnering To Ensure Future Of Critical Natural Resources
Purina is the newest corporate member of the USA Rice/Ducks Unlimited (DU) Rice Stewardship Partnership. Through a $2 million commitment over four years, Purina’s investment in the Rice Stewardship Partnership will help keep working ricelands healthy, preserve wetlands and create habitat for waterfowl and other wildlife.
“Farmers, their dogs and waterfowl have long been part of our conservation heritage,” says Dale Hall, DU CEO. “Purina already is a great partner with DU, and we’re proud they’re joining us in our rice industry support and conservation mission.”
“Supporting the Rice Stewardship Partnership is consistent with Purina’s purpose and values,” says Purina CEO Joe Sivewright. “We exist as a company to create richer lives for pets and the people who love them, and this includes stewarding resources for future generations.”
Support of the Rice Stewardship Partnership is part of Purina’s long-term sustainability strategy to add value to the agricultural supply chain and ensure that high-quality ingredients are available for pets and people well into the future.
"At Purina, we believe that a healthy environment grows healthy ingredients for healthy pets,” says Jack Scott, Purina Head of Sustainability. “Rice is a natural grain that helps fuel energy and supports digestibility. It is one of the key ingredients in a variety of Purina recipes, so how it is grown is important to us. We’re proud to partner with DU and their many collaborators to achieve important sustainability objectives and improve wetlands and agricultural landscapes.”
In addition to supporting the Rice Stewardship Partnership, Purina Pro Plan brand dog food is the official performance dog food of DU.
