- Living the American [Water Spaniel] Dream
One of few breeds truly developed in America, the American Water Spaniel is a versatile, all-around hunting dog. Paul and Lynn Morrison built their home and kennel around their love for the breed. At their Little Brownies Kennel, they emphasize producing good, sound hunting dogs that are great companions.
- Applying First Aid in the Field: Training
Emergencies in the field can happen in a heartbeat. Packing a first-aid kit is helpful for minor injuries and for caring for major injuries until a dog can be transported to a veterinarian.
- Starting Brace Beagle Puppies
Starting brace beagle puppies usually takes from one to three weeks. The idea is to teach puppies to use their nose to find rabbit tracks and bark at the tracks they find.
- The Hunt for a Perfect Golden
Snowshoe Golden Retrievers has produced some of the finest Golden Retrievers in the country over the past 14 years. Sue and Steve Schnarr first strive to breed a family dog and second a versatile dog. One of their Goldens is the most versatile Golden in history. Their conformation winners have also taken home many top prizes.
- Desensitizing Puppies for the Show Ring
One of the most important lessons a dog learns is to accept human touch and being handled. Breeders typically begin preparing a show puppy for handling when he is just a few weeks old. Progress should be made slowly in order for the pup to become comfortable.
- Westminster's Shining Angels
Westminster Kennel Club believes in the healing power of dogs in people’s lives. In 2004, Westminster founded its nonprofit charity Angel On A Leash to promote the role of therapy dogs and their handlers.
